My suggestion would be to have "combined specials" turrets, one for offensive/technology and one for defensive/technology when both are allocated x points (like 10, as nothing happens then). Ideas for the turrets:
Offensive/Technology [Cost: $1000, Spaces: 1] -Limited aura giving 2x damage to affected turrets for a time, recharges, then reapplies aura -Upgrades: [1, $750, decreases recharge time] [2, $1000, increases range by a bit]
Offensive/Technology [Cost: $1000, Spaces: 2] -Turret that fires a laser at high damage for a short time that has a high percent chance of draining the aura to recharge the power meter and has a long recharge time. The laser is like the quantum laser in that it has 100% charge, it fires 75%, the ship dies, then it releases the remaining 25% on the next ship before recharging. -Upgrades: [1, $1000, shortens recharge time] [2, $1500, increases laser duration]
Defensive/Technology [Cost: $1000, Spaces: 1] -Limited aura giving 2x [ammo/range] to affected turrets for a time, recharges, then reapplies aura -Upgrades: [1, $750, decreases recharge time] [2, $1000, increases range by a bit]
Also, as a side thought, allow the map to move farther left, right, up and down. some of the objects on the HUD make selecting turrets for upgrade or placing turrets difficult.

Nice suggestions there but I think the cost a little high as by the time you have them penned enough to save that coin the game is close to over especialy on admiral setting, maybe lowering the cost at the price of not being able to stack special abilities on effected turrets would be feasable then you would need to make a strategic desision were to place them aswell. I totaly agree being able to scroll the map a little more while fully zoomed out would help loads as at present you need to scroll right in to deal with said effected turrets.

The main thing for the higher cost is because it's a combined turret, but also, because I got up to wave 500-some and I had over 73,985 or something, where the counter stops at 9,999 (it shows you how much when the game first loads before hitting the play button). I could use something big and advanced to buy after the first 2-300 waves when all of my turrets are fully upgraded and on battleships.

Nice. I had much the same, though still slightly different in some areas. If my app wasn't faulty and actually took my scores, I would have placed second... :/ Wish I knew how to fix mine.

I know it might sound a simple thing to do but have you removed it from your device (give the device a reboot ie:power down fully. ) then connect it to Itunes and reinstall the app that way it might just be that it hasnt taken in the OS properly give it a try it might solve your problem.

 Already tried (about three times), but I'll attempt a take four anyway... It was always a bit twitchy for me, though.

Ahh I wasn't sure weather you had tryed it but was worth a go other than a hard reset and starting fresh on your device there realy isn't much else you can do unfortunatly. Do you have your device jailbroken ?

Nope... I'll muddle through somehow, though. I suspect that If I'm connected to wifi when my base falls, I might be able to upload, so we'll see... Kind of a pain though.
